Abuse of power is defined as the intentional use of any ability, command or influence held to give yourself or others an unfair advantage. As a staff member, you have been trusted with the ability to, if used maliciously, significantly damage the servers economy, community and player experience. You will always be treated more harshly for breaking server rules as you are seen as the standard at which we wish all players to be.

As a general rule, if what you are doing is not possible for a regular player and it is giving you an advantage, then it is abuse of your power.

Examples

There are many types of abuses of power, so some examples are listed below:

• Spawning in items using Creative or the /give command to use, give away or sell.
• Using /tp to quick travel when not dealing with a staff related issue.
• Using your authority to intimidate, lie to or trick a player.
• Banning or kicking players because you do not like them or are frustrated.
• Gaming a system by using knowledge gained only through being a staff member.

Regarding Teleporting

If you teleport to assist a player, you must then return to as close to where you were previously. The best way to do this is to save your location before teleporting with the /smp command, and then returning with /smp r 1 .

If this command fails for any reason, the next best case is to return to as close to where you were using your best judgement, or teleport to spawn using /spawn.

Knowledge For Gain

Staff are privy to information regarding potential changes to the server, in addition to upcoming punitive actions. You cannot use any information gained by being a staff member to give yourself an advantage in the game.

This includes but is not limited to:

• changing/making farms or builds to take advantage of changes/features
• buying out a players items knowing they will be banned
• saving a players items knowing they will be banned.

Staff Restrictions

Because of the above information giving staff a significant informational advantage, there are restrictions on some actions in order to ensure the community remains fair for everybody. The following are the current restrictions on staff that differ from regular players:

• Staff cannot offer to purchase, co-own, claim or otherwise come into ownership of a shop or game that is in the warning period, or that is coming up to the end of the 30 day build period.
  • This does not apply if a shop is being publicly auctioned/sold by said player outside of the warning period unless you specifically approach them with an offer because you know the shop/game is going to be reclaimed at the next shop check.

Whistleblowing

If you have any inclination that another staff member is abusing their powers, or have evidence thereof, immediately open a Confidential (Admin Only) ticket

The issue will then be investigated by the Admin team. All reports are treated with the utmost respect to your personal privacy, and so your name will not be shared outside of the internal Admin investigation.
