NameMC is a website that you can use to get a username history for a player, check their skins and also see a few other things like capes and people that may be associated with the applicant.
Checking NameMC.com is one of the first and most important things you should do in a whitelist background check.
Sometimes an applicant gives us the wrong username. Usually this happens when they are new to Java Minecraft and have previously been playing on GamePass/Xbox where a GamerTag is used. A GamerTag is different to a Minecraft Username.
In those cases when you search the username it will come up as Available
on NameMC. An available username is one that is not in use in Java Minecraft, so if that happens, we know that this username cannot be correct, and we can ask the applicant to check they have given us the right name.
Example of an available username
When the username comes up as Unavailable
that means it is currently in use, and you will see a list of any people that have used that specific name in the past.
Example of a username that has had multiple users
<aside> 🚨 It’s important to note that other people may have used the same username in the past, so keep that in mind as you do your background search. If you do find a red flag check the date that the red flag occurred and compare with the date the current user started using the name. It might have been a different player.

The most current user is usually the one at the top, that has the username in the top slot.
